Enough [Jerusalem Post]

The world will not help us; we must help ourselves. We must kill as many of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders as possible, as quickly possible, while minimizing collateral damage, but not letting that damage stop us. And we must kill Yasser Arafat, because the world leaves us no alternative.
Dishonorable Congressman (Re. Ron Paul)

Something all Ron Paul fans need to read.
Aljazeera.Net - Arafat May Not Survive Next 24 Hours

The future of Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat is hanging by a thread, according to senior diplomats.

Israeli health minister Danny Narveh told a number of UN and other officials during an informal chat on Wednesday that Arafat must be physically removed from his Ramallah base.

In a stark warning amid increasing tension, one of the western diplomats at the Narveh briefing described the next 24 hours as critical ... and he made it clear his express concern focussed on Arafat's personal safety.

On condition of anonymity, the offical told Aljazeera.net on Wednesday that Yasir Arafat may not remain in the Palestinian territories once Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon returns from India.

Sharon is due back in Israel by 01:00 (GMT) on Thursday.

“What concerns me is that Yasir Arafat may not even be around in 24 hours," added the source.

Naveh's revelation will not surprise many observers of Israeli politics. Less than a week ago Silvan Shalom told Israeli Radio that he thought "Arafat's expulsion is an inevitable result after years of involvement in terrorism".

Interesting, though I take al-Jazerra's word with a grain of salt.

Asia Times -Israel and India Join Forces

Very interesting dynamic that is playing on the Indian subcontinent. Pakistan has alliances with China and the US, both of whom are selling that nation advanced weapons. India is currently allied with Israel and Russia.

Also throw in Saudi and North Korean alliances with Pakistan and the fact that India's neighbors are India's enemies.
President Bush Addressed the Nation Sunday Night

Enemies of freedom are making a desperate stand there -- and there they must be defeated. This will take time and require sacrifice. Yet we will do what is necessary, we will spend what is necessary, to achieve this essential victory in the war on terror, to promote freedom and to make our own nation more secure.

The line I liked the most in his speech.

However, I didn't like the the remarks about the $87 billion. There are no free market reforms attached to it and Bush was unclear about what the money is going to be spent on.

Election Will Shape Fall in Congress (washingtonpost.com)

But some independent observers of Congress are less bullish. The energy and prescription drug bills face serious difficulties, the American Enterprise Institute's Norman J. Ornstein and American University professor James A. Thurber said in separate interviews. "The outlook is grim for major accomplishment," Ornstein said.

Very good news indeed.

Election strategy shifts from swing voters to partisan turnout

This is probably the best reason for President Bush to finally come to the right. They need to turn out the base for the 2004 elections. The Democratic base is fired up. All Bush has given the GOP base is tax cuts. The War on Terror is now questionable and his government growth is unacceptable.

I like President Bush and I don't want to see him lose next year, but that is a real possiblity.

No more U.S. troops for Iraq

WASHINGTON--Faced with guerrilla attacks, U.S. officials Sunday rejected sending more American troops to stabilize Iraq but said they would welcome additional help from other countries.

Better intelligence and cooperation from the Iraqi people are key to reversing the tide of violence, said L. Paul Bremer, the top U.S. civilian official in Iraq.

Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the United States would welcome a bigger international presence, but he deferred to diplomats on the thorny question of whether some military control should be ceded to the United Nations.

Text: Bush Speech on Deaths of Uday and Qusay (washingtonpost.com)

Celebrate Mr. President. You're entitled to it in this case. I only hope that it took Uday and Qusay a long time to die.
